Salmon Slapping
This dance was created by our very own Justine Salmon, I think around 2005 but I must check that date with her. For a while Justine and Paul tried to insist that it was called the Salmon Dance. I think it was Kenny that re-christened it Salmon Slapping and that name stuck.

Chorus - 1-4: Nos. 1 & 3 take four step-hops into the middle
5-8: Nos. 1 & 3 do 8 clashes,
1-4: alternating forehand and backhand
5-8: Nos. 1 & 3 take four step-hops back to place
1-4: Nos. 2 & 4 take four step-hops into the middle
5-8: Nos. 2 & 4 do 8 clashes,
1-4: alternating forehand and backhand

No. 3 follows No. 2 as No. 1 passes No. 4 left
shoulders and dances around. No. 4 turns on the
spot to face No. 3
If there is just one set of four then No. 1 leads the
set off.
If there are two sets then the two No. 1
dancers lead their sets towards one another and
they begin a straight hey.
After passing all four dancers the No. 1 dancers
turn back into the hey. At the other end of the hey,
the two No. 1 dancers lead off.
If there are three sets then the top set faces down
and the bottom two sets face up. No. 1 of the
bottom set and No.3 of the top set lead off from
the ends of the hey.
