To begin with there didn't seem to be any response. Then, while we were at Rochester Matt Cudby told me that he and Erin Brown would be interested in coming to try out a Pretty Grim practice. Although I didn't really know Matt and Erin myself at that stage I did know that they were friends with a few other members of the side. More importantly I knew that they were both good musicians so I had no hesitation in encouraging them to come along, even after Erin made it clear that she wanted to come as a dancer and not a musician.
Once we got back home from Rochester I became aware that Viv had been sharing out musicians wanted poster on every Facebook page she could think of. Over the next couple of days four musicians got in touch and two of them said they would be coming to practice. Then Matt said that he might be bringing another extra dancer along too.
Consequently Thursday's practice night was packed out, even though four member of the side weren't there! The two new dancers, Erin and Dennis, both did very well. The new musicians seemed to fit in excellently with Ruth and Al. The enlarged band sounded great to me and everyone looked happy. In fact after practice there was an impromptu session in the Ship.
Having moved to Blaxhall because our previous practice venue was too small, we are now at a stage were we really can't accomodate any more dancers! I certainly have no plans to move the side again so, unfortunately, if anyone else wants to join as a dancer in the near future I might have to put them on hold for a while. However, we would still welcome more musicians if there is any more interest.
