With several new members wanting to join the side, by coincidence we had a message from one on our Facebook page just before the meeting started, we have decided to move our practice venue. We have been very happy at The Golden Hind, which is a lovely pub with a great landlord, but the room just isn't big enough anymore. For this winter then we will be practising at Blaxhall Village Hall on Thursday evenings at 8 o'clock.
We also discussed kit, which has 'evolved' somewhat over the course of the summer. The consensus was that our kit should consist of black trousers, skirts optional for women, and a purple collarless shirt or, for the women, the option of wearing some alternative type of purple top. Tail coats to be worn in the winter and cooler weather, optional black waistcoats for the summer. Black top hats for men, Dylan is allowed to keep his purple hat because he is 'special' - in oh so many ways :p) . Men to wear black face paint, women to wear masks or a face paint 'mask'. Essentially the idea was to keep to a similar theme to our existing kit but allow a degree of individualisation and a bit of 'Pretty' to go with the 'Grim'.
Finally it was agreed that we should allow school age children to come to practice without paying subs. This year is the first time we have had school age children dancing with the side and it was generally agreed the this is a 'good thing'.
